     Ray Marine ST60 Speed

Botany Bay's uses Ray Marine SeaTalk instruments. The Ray Marine ST60 Speed provides a digital display of either the speed through the water and can display other velocity information (for example the GPS speed over ground, or the velocity made good toward a waypoint). The sensor is mounted approximately 1/3 of the waterline length aft of the cutwater on the starboard side of the vessel about two feet off the centerline.

The primary display is on the forward bulkhead in the main solon. The autopilot display in the cockpit provides a repeater for the speed information in the cockpit. With an autopilot display at the helm and one in the pod over the companionway no additional displays are necessary. Using a repeater in the cockpit keeps the sensor wiring concentrated near the sensors (i.e. just forward of the mast in this case) and the only connection required for the cockpit instruments is a single SeaTalk cable.

The manual and quick reference are both well written and useful.
