Dangerous Books
These books should not be read if you want a "normal life"

These books are on the Botany Bay "Most Dangerous" list.  These books will get in the way of any "normal" lifestyle and result in the overwhelming desire to toss everything to the wind and go cruising!
This book covers the "what" and "when" of cruising.  The authors explain that cruising doesn't always mean a great journey over oceans -- it can be what ever you, your schedule, and your current boat can handle, from a week or two gunkholing in the Cheasepeake to a winter in Mexico.  The authors advocate cruising NOW, or if not now, real soon.
This book covers the "how" of getting ready for cruising.
The basics of repair or replacement for every major system and accessory on a fiberglass boat is explained in simple terms with lots of pictures.  This copy means a lot to me because of the inscription of a dear friend inside the front cover.  Hobo was the first boat I helped prepair for offshore cruising and probably the one where I learned the most.  Thanks Bill for everything.

This book is the "where" of cruising.  It tells you about the popular and and less traveled routes for small sailboats the world over.  If the ocean route you want is not in this book, few have used it (possibly with good reason!)
