Replacing Aft Sanitation Hoses | ||
When working on sanitation systems on a boat it is often
easier to just replace all of the hoses, pumps, valves, and equipment
rather than trying to salvage any of it. This is especially the case
for liveaboard sailors with offshore tendencies. The issue is that the
amount of wear and tear is much higher and at the same time, when all
of the equipment is new, getting the system leak free is simply a
matter of plumbing, not a matter of sanitation plumbing which makes the
whole job much easier. The images below are all of the old hose which was removed from the aft sanitation system including the waste discharge pump, two y-valves, two vented loops, and lots of hose of verying vintage. Getting access to the hose which connected to the holding tank proved to be an interesting challenge resulting in having to pull up the battery bank and other equipment to get complete access. |
