Florescent to LED Upgrade
Marine Beam has some "near drop in" replacements for 12/24V Florescent fixtures. There are a total of 10 of these onboard. I first ordered one of the warm white and one of the cool white bulbs to compare. The warm white is a very close match for "warm" florescents and goes nicely with the other LED bulbs in the overhead fixtures.

The following images document the process of bypassing and removing the ballast in each fixture as the LED bulbs run directly off of any voltage between about 10V and 30V.

One of the fixtures had gotten water in it from a deck leak at some point in time. I was not able to easily find the switch on short notice as an independent part. However, this same switch is used in line cord switches so I bought one of those and took it apart. Note that the switch cannot handle alot of heat internally. Getting the switch disconnected with the soldering iron was no problem but I tried to solder wires to it rather than use push on terminals and destroyed the first switch. The second time I used push on terminals and did not have any trouble.
