The knot meter is definitely intermittent and has been that
way since I purchased the boat. I have gone through and cleaned up the
wiring several times and it continues to be more or less intermittent
and it is not clear if the problem is the transducer, the wiring, or
the display. I will plan to setup an oscilloscope to the computer and
use that to determine where the problem is. That said, I am planning on
converting to a new system the next time that the boat is hauled and
will most likely go with one of the ultrasonic systems. The following
pictures are mostly just to help in the selection of the new sensor as
there are two different sizes of Raymarine transducers. Another option
is to install one of the sidescan systems. Alternatively I could use
the larger transducer sensor hole to install a camera and install a
transducer elsewhere.
