One must always be vigilant for coral heads in the Marshall Islands. They are amazingly steep sided, often rising from 150 feet to just below the surface in a few short feet. More pictures of coral heads give you the idea. | ||

The pass in and out of Likiep Atoll is not too difficult, as usual there are shallows to both sides, to port it appears to be sand shallows, to starboard a very sharp rise to a coral shelf. The water is deep right off the shelf. Be careful, the current can be significant and try to push you onto the shelf. | ||

We were amazed to see a sea buoy just off the island of Likiep. There is no pass through the reef close to this point that I know of. | ![]() |
